  • Mathematics. Do you know how eigenvector-based link analysis algorithms work? Have you ever investigated the properties of a small-world network? Have you ever thought of applying your mathematical know-how to generate insights into complex interconnected systems?
  • Natural Language Processing. What is the difference between an idiolect and a sociolect? Can you write software that understands the contents of a blog posting? Have you ever dreamed of building an understanding engine?
  • Distributed Computing. How would you store and process several million documents? Do you think in terms of web services and workflow engines? Do you have experience of scaling software platforms horizontally and vertically?

Front end developer

We are market-leading company creating social media analytics for big brands. We are looking for a front end web developer to help us develop a dashboard delivering metrics to our clients.

You will:

  • Create concepts and wire-frames for applications based on provided use cases.
  • Produce attractive designs for target users
  • Be responsible for the look, feel and functionality of the front-end.
  • Work alongside server developers and product managers in an agile environment.
  • Integrate API services and third party elements
  • Follow and recommend cutting edge technologies and how to implement them.

You need to have:

  • Experience in designing user interfaces for web based applications
  • Knowledge of graphic design packages such as Fireworks or Photoshop
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS2, working knowledge of HTML5/CSS3
  • Good SEO knowledge.
  • Passion for researching new trends within CSS/HTML and usability
  • Advanced at Javascript (knowledge of jQuery or similar libraries)
  • Experience with AJAX, XML and JSON data formats and an understanding of developing within a MVC architecture
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar role (with URL’s to back this up)
  • Experience with cross-browser compatibility/testing.
  • Understanding of browser/platform constraints and accessibility factors
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Efficient and self-motivated.
  • Enjoy a small team environment.

Pluses:

  • Experience working with Facebook/Twitter or other RESTful APIs.
  • Experience of iterative design process.
  • Early adopter: you are aware of ‘the next big thing’ before everyone else.
  • Track record of “getting things done”.
